Ben Stokes Biography

 Benjamin Andrew Stokes (born 4 June 1991) is an English cricketer and vice - captain of the England national cricket team. Stokes has developed into part of the England squad that won the 2019 Cricket World Cup, winning the last match. In July 2020, Stokes captained the England squad for the first time for a major test of form against the West Indies. Born in Christchurch, New Zealand, Stokes moved to northern England with his mother and father at the age of 12, at that time he learned the sport and began playing cricket for local bands. A left-handed batsman and right-arm fast medium bowler, Stokes has been the best test all-rounder in the world since July 2020.As a bowler, Stokes is constantly playing at 140 km / h (87 mph), and he can also swing the ball. An attacking middle-order batsman, he holds the record for the fastest test batsman in England history for two centuries,  the fastest test landing of 250 and the best score in history for a test batsman batting in the sixth grade. He also holds the record for the most runs scored by a male or female batsman in a morning test session. Stokes became the highest-paid foreign player in the history of the Indian Premier League in 2017, earning 14.5 million yen ($2.1 million or £ 1.7 million); at one point in the season, he won the Most Valuable Player award. In January 2020, Stokes was awarded the Sir Garfield Sobers Award for Best Cricketer of the Year by the International Cricket Council (ICC),  and three months later was named the world's leading Wisden Cricketer of the Year for 2019.  He won the award again the following year.. 

Early life



Stokes was born in New Zealand, the son of a rugby league player and coach, the late Gerard Stokes, known as "Ged Stokes", and an English mother of English and Maori descent.He moved to England at the age of 12,  after his father was appointed chief membership instructor for Workington Town Rugby League, and grew up in the small town of Cockermouth in West Cumbria., attending Cockermouth School and playing cricket for Cockermouth Cricket Club. In 2006, he won the North Lancashire and Cumbria Cricket League Premier Division title with the club as a fifteen-year-old-12-month-old-player. His parents eventually moved back to New Zealand to re-settle in Christchurch; Ged Stokes died in New Zealand on 8 December 2020.



Profession IPL

On 20 February 2017, Stokes was offered via the Rising Pune Supergiants in the IPL for Rs 14.5 cr  (£1.7 m). He made his first T20 hundred against the Gujarat Lions, getting 103* in sixty-three balls with 7 fours and 6 sixes. He won the Man of the Match trophy a record three times in 14 video games before retiring to the national team. 2013-14 Ashes Series

Stokes was selected in the England squad for the 2013-14 Ashes series against Australia. He became the 658th player to represent England at Test level. He made his debut in the 2nd Test and took the wickets of Michael Clarke and Peter Siddle before contributing 1 run in England's first innings. In the second innings, he made 28 runs off 90 balls in the loss to England. He was selected in the third Test and took the wicket of Brad Haddin, then he made 18 from 57 deliveries. In Australia's 2nd innings, he bowled Michael Clarke and took the wicket of Steve Smith. In England's 2nd innings, he made his first test appearance, scoring one hundred and twenty from 195 balls before being caught. In the main innings of the 4th Test, he made 14 runs and then controlled to take out Shane Watson. In the second innings, he made 19 runs and took the wicket of David Warner in the loss to England.

Personal life

Stokes became engaged to Claire Radcliffe in 2013.They have children. Clara was born in the early nineties and grew up in the village of East Brent in Somerset, in the south-west of England. She is best known for being the wife of Ben Stokes, an English international cricketer and current vice-captain of the England test team. Stokes was part of the England squad that won the 2019 Cricket World Cup. He turned into the BBC sports personality of the Year 2019 in Aberdeen.They tied the knot at noon on Saturday, October 14, 2017. The ceremony took place at St Mary the Virgin's Church in East Brent, near Weston-in-Mare, Somerset. Guests at the couple's wedding included England stars Stuart Broad, Jos Buttler and Eoin Morgan, as well as former greats Ian Bell and Paul Collingwood. Fellow cricketers Sam Billings and Scott Borthwick were also in attendance.
