Martin Guptil Biography


Martin James Guptill (born 30 September 1986) is a New Zealand cricketer who plays as a first - class batsman in the Codex-codex of the sport. Guptill is the first New Zealand cricketer and the 5th player to score a double in a one-day international in form, and holds the modern record for the best individual score in Cricket World Cup suits and the second highest score in a one-day international tournament of 237.In March 2021, Guptill played in his one-cent T20I healthy. Guptill scored over 600 T20I runs at the Eden Park cricket ground. He is the main and only participant to reach 500 and six-hundred-plus T20I runs in one place.

Domestic and T20 Cricket
In domestic cricket, Guptill plays for Auckland, and in cricket for the suburb of New Lynn. He made an excellent cricket debut in March 2006, scoring a duck with 4 balls in his first innings and 99 in the 2nd. In 2011, Guptill played English county cricket in the second half of the season for Derbyshire County Cricket Club. Guptill played for the Mumbai Indians in the 2016 Indian Premier League as a replacement for the injured Lendl Simmons. and for the Kings XI of Punjab as part of the 2017 Indian Premier League. In December 2018, he changed into sold through Sunrisers Hyderabad as part of the 2019 Indian Premier League entrants auction. In July 2019, he was selected to play for the Edinburgh Rocks in the inaugural edition of the Euro T20 Slam cricket tournament .However, the tournament was cancelled the following month. It was launched through Sunrisers Hyderabad prior to the public sale of the 2020 IPL.In April 2021, he moved to a contract signed with the Karachi Kings to play in the transferred suits in the 2021 Pakistan Super League.



International Cricket
Guptill first represented New Zealand at the 2006 Under-19 Cricket World Cup in Sri Lanka. He made his one-day (ODI) debut for New Zealand on 10 January 2009 against the West Indies in Auckland, becoming the first New Zealander to reach a century on his one – day debut-his score of 122 is no longer the best score on debut for New Zealand in ODI and the 2nd highest debut rating in ODIs, and he was the first New Zealander to go through a completed ODI innings. He made his test cricket debut for India in the first test at Hamilton in March 2009, scoring 14 and 48. For his performances in 2009, he developed into a named inside the world ODI XI through the ICC.



For his performances in the 2011-12 season, he received the Sir Richard Hadley Medal.He was named the NZC T20 Player of the Year for the 2011-12 season. During New Zealand's tour of England in 2013, Guptill again scored against the undefeated masses at Lord's and Southampton, scoring 189, the highest score for a New Zealander in an ODI at the time, and contributing to the team's then fifth-highest score in ODI records (359). Guptill surpassed his best score at the 2015 World Cup by scoring an unbeaten 237 from 163 balls against the West Indies in the semi-final at Westpac Stadium in Wellington. He became the main competitor to reach a double century in a match at knockout level, as New Zealand scored 393 points, which is first class overall in the knockout competition at the World Cup. After scoring 3 geese in the organization, he finished the tournament with 547 runs, becoming the top scorer.
In May 2018, he became one of twenty players who were granted a new contract for the 2018-19 season using New Zealand cricket. In April 2019, he was named in the New Zealand squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup.

Records
In 2013, Guptill scored one after another unbeaten goal against England.
 He scored 330 runs in a three-match ODI series, which at the time was a world record for most runs in a three-match two-way ODI series.
He was the first New Zealander and the fifth player overall to score two centuries in an ODI.  
His 237 knockouts remains the highest individual score in the Cricket World Cup and the second highest score in ODIs.
Guptill holds the record for the highest individual score as an opener, who remained unbeaten throughout the entire ODI innings (237*)
He was the first person to face the pink ball in a day-night test match in Adelaide in November 2015. He was the first person to be fired during a day and night trial.
Guptill scored the fastest ODI fifty by a New Zealander-his 17-ball fifty is the second fastest fifty of all time.

Guptill has three ODI scores of over 180, more than any New Zealand cricketer
In January 2018, Guptill became the second New Zealand player and ninth overall to score a century against each of the nine other full test nations. 
As of February 2019, Guptill has scored the second highest number of runs in T20I cricket. He was the top scorer until his record was broken by Rohit Sharma.
As of April 2021, Guptill has scored 600 plus T20I runs at the Eden Park Cricket Ground. He is the first and only cricketer to score 500 and 600 points plus T20I runs in one place. 

Career first-class performances
As of February 2019, Guptill has scored 3 tests, sixteen odis and twenty-20 internationals. In total, as of January 2019, he was ranked in 14 top-10s, 24 A-listers, and four twentysomethings. Two of his centuries were double centuries.
Guptill's first world century turned into his New Zealand debut against the West Indies in Auckland in 2009. Guptill's 122nd innings will no longer be defined as "one of the best I've seen in a long time" by New Zealand captain Daniel Vettori. His century turned into a primary as a New Zealander on their ODI debut. He immediately made the New Zealander's best ODI score at Southampton in June 2013, scoring 189 goals against England. At the time, the ranking was the fifth highest in any ODI and equaled the highest score a man or woman had scored in a match against England.


Guptill immediately set a new ODI record for New Zealand when he made the best ranking of his career, 237 not out for the 2015 World Cup clash with the West Indies in Wellington. The innings becomes the second-highest character innings in ODI history and remains the highest rated Guptill in any form of cricket. His second double century turned into a gamble for Derbyshire in the 2015 County.



 Personal lifestyle
Guptill was born in Auckland in 1986. He attended Kelston Primary School and Kelston Boys ' High School before moving on to Avondale College, where he played cricket and became a prefect. His wife is the journalist and reporter Laura McGoldrick,  while his cousin, Michael Guptill-Bunce, also played cricket for Auckland. 

Guptill has the most comfortable two toes on his left foot. At the age of thirteen, he was involved in a strange twist of fate and lost 3 toes. The New Zealand cricket team nicknamed him "Two Fingers". He attended Kelston Boys ' High School for four years, and in his final year of high school transferred to Avondale College Championship match at Bristol. This is his best good double century as of January 2019.



Michael Guptill-Bunce
Michael Guptill-Bunce (born 7 April 1989) is a New Zealand cricketer who plays for Auckland. He made his twenty20 debut in Auckland on December 4, 2016 at Super Smash 2016-17.He was the top scorer in the 2017-18 Plunket Shield season in Auckland, scoring 517 points in ten matches. In June 2018, he signed with the Oakland Reds for the 2018-19 season. In September 2018, he was named in the Auckland Aces squad for the 2018 Abu Dhabi T20 Trophy.He is a cousin of  discoverer, Martin Guptill.
