                                              2016 and 2017 seasons: Runners-up
Quetta kicked off their 2016 marketing campaign with relaxed wins over Islamabad United and the Karachi Kings, before moving beyond Peshawar's Zalmi in a tight contest. The defeat to the Lahore Calanders was followed by a major win over Islamabad, in which New Zealand all-rounder Grant Elliott, who had just joined the team, was instrumental in the victory as he took 3 key wickets to limit United to 117. This victory took the team to the top of the table and was notable for the victory over Karachi, in which the Gladiators were confirmed as the first team to reach the playoffs of the 2016 seasonQuetta finished 2nd in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) , behind Peshawar with six wins in eight matches. In the primary qualifier, Quetta defeated Pershawar by one run, with the Gladiators scoring 133 runs with a rating of 53 runs by Kevin Pietersen and 37 runs by Kumar Sangakkara. In response, Peshawar scored 132 points after reaching the last ball. This victory qualified Quetta for the final, in which they lost to Islamabad by six wickets, posting a total of 174/7 with a rating of sixty-four runs through Ahmed Shehzad and fifty-five runs through Sangakkara.Ahmed Shehzad finished as the group's top scorer with 290 runs, while Mohammad Nawaz took thirteen wickets to become the team's top scorer.Riley Rossouw scored 255 points, becoming the team's top scorer in 2017.As for the 2017 season, Kumar Sangakkara and Grant Elliott were launched by Quetta just days before the PSL switch window ended in September 2016. Sangakara was taken with the help of the kings of Karachi at the same time that Grant Elliot joined the Lahore Qalandars.Quetta retained 10 players ahead of the 2017 Pakistan Super League Player Draft and signed eight at some stage of the draft. He signed international players Rovman Powell, Carlos Brathwaite, Timal Mills and David Willey. However, of these top players, Mills would probably have become a member of the team, as other players were unavailable. Mahmudullah Riad and Riley Rossouw joined the band as alternatives to Mohammed Nabi and David Willey, while Nathan McCallum and Tisara Perera replaced Rowman Powell and Carlos Brathwaite. The changes were influenced by a variety of reasons, from the injury of several players to the fact that others did not receive a "no objection" certificate, to the scheduling of clashes with global cricket.

In their first match of the 2017 season, the Quetta Gladiators defended a goal in 137 matches against the Lahore Calanders. The attack was carefully repelled and rescheduled for the penultimate one, in which the Gladiators won by eight runs. Debutant Hassan Khan, a freshman from Quetta, was voted the best player of the match for his all-round overall performance of 2 vital wickets and sixteen runs at short range.[20] In the next round, the Gladiators defeated the Karachi Kings by 7 wickets. After an initial stutter in the chase for 160 that spotted them at 30/three, Riley Russo and Sarfaraz Ahmed combined in an unbeaten one-hundred-and-thirty partnership for the fourth wicket to take the Gladiators home with 5 balls to spare. Riley Rossouw was voted Man of the Match for his unbeaten, healthy winning strike of 76 from 53 balls. In the second stage of the tournament in Sharjah, the Gladiators were defeated for the first time in the season by the champions team - Islamabad United. Having set a target of 149 from their 20 overs, which made the Gladiators suffer to speed up their innings, they lost 5 wickets. In the following sport, unlike Peshawar Zalmi, the form became deserted after repeated downpours, and the two teams shared points from the fight. In a continuation of the marketing campaign, the Gladiators successfully chased 201 against the Lahore Qalandars in what many pundits called the "costume of the season".Kevin Peterson and Sarfaraz Ahmad were instrumental in the pursuit through a one-hundred-and-one-run partnership. The first to go through a lean stretch in this PSL uniform hit and hit 88 from forty-two balls, which includes eight sixes, because the Gladiators plundered 78 runs from the last three.5 overs to seal the match.

When the event returned to Dubai, the Gladiators continued their winning streak by defeating the Karachi Kings by 6 wickets. A group chase of one hundred and fifty-five runs was requisitioned with an opening partnership of 105 runs between Ahmad Shahzad  with forty balls and Asad Shafiq of 45 runs with 33 balls-the highest of the PSL of this version. This win additionally effectively made Gladaiotrs the main group to qualify for the playoffs. Continuing, the group is out of place in their remaining league class suits-against Islamabad United and Peshawar Zalmi respectively. On the previous occasion, the Gladiators exploded in pursuit of 166, despite a 2nd-wicket partnership of 133 runs between 69-year-old Kevin Peterson, who ran forty-three balls, and 53-year-old Ahmad Shahzad, who ran 43 balls. Thus, after seven runs in the final frame, the team was 1 run behind. In the next round, Gladiators must first score fewer points in 128 rounds. However, the team fielded and bowled fairly well to cut Zalmis ' chase to fifty-two-6 before Shahid Afridi took his team home with 2 wickets to spare. In the playoffs, the Gladiators beat Peshawar Zalmi in the 1st round in a thrilling contest. Blinking first, the team sent a heavy 201st goal on board. This was made possible by competitive batting from the seventy-one(38) of Ahmed Shehzad and the forty (22) of Kevin Pietersen, which ensured that the Gladiators collected a run fee of more than 12 runs at some point in the main half of the innings. In response, the Zalmi responded in kind and were favourites to beat the healthy ones before a good finish by Quetta's Mohammed Nawaz robbed them of the prevailing run. As a result, the uniformed gladiators became the first group to qualify for the most recent one. In the most recent of these, the 2 teams met again, and the Gladiators-the runners-up in the first PSL version, went to Peshawar Zalmi after fifty-eight runs. First, Zalmis suffered from a single factor of 112 for six years before Darren Sammy scored 33 runs in the last two overs, bringing the team total to a first-class 148. In response, the Quetta players never collected and regularly lost wickets, eventually scoring just 90 points. Gladiator's chances in the final were undermined by the team's highest scorers of the season, Kevin Pietersen and Riley Rossouw, dropping out of the very last one in Lahore, citing safety concerns.
